New Line Cinema and 21 Laps Entertainment are developing schoolyard comedy FIST FIGHT, with Charlie Day attached to star. Originally pitched by Max Greenfield of New Girl fame, the film tells the story of two high school teachers who face off against each other in a legendary fist-fight.

Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Billy Rosenberg, and Greenfield are producing. Levy, Cohen, and Rosenberg have previously worked together on The Spectacular Now. Known for for playing Schmidt on New Girl, this will be Greenfield’s first feature writing credit.

Writers Evan Susser and Van Robichaux made the 2011 Hit List and the 2011 Black List when their script Chewie was featured. The spec, which is in development, is a comedic take on the making of Star Wars, told through the eyes of the actor who played Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew. Susser and Robichaux have also been tapped to work on the film adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog.

The Shawn Levy-run 21 Laps Entertainment is currently producing Last Man Standing and Cristela for ABC. Richard Brener, Sam Brown, and Dave Neustadter will oversee the project for New Line.

Day is best known for his roles in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Horrible Bosses, The Lego Movie, and Pacific Rim. Apart from starring, Day has also written and executive produced It’s Always Sunny. This year he can be seen in The Hollars as well as the National Lampoon’s Vacation remake, Vacation.

Day is repped by WME.
