{TB EXCLUSIVE} Chris Weitz Set To Adapt “The Boys In The Boat”

Oscar-nominated screenwriter has signed on to write the feature adaptation of , based on the book written by Daniel James Brown. “Thor” helmer Kenneth Branagh is on board to direct the Weinstein Co./Lawrence Gordon effort.

Pic follows the 1936 University of Washington rowing team as they dominated the college ranks and went on to represent the United States in the 1936 Olympics, winning the gold medal.

Weitz, who last penned “The Golden Compass” was nominated for an Oscar in 2002 for the work he did alongside his brother Paul Weitz on “About a Boy.” The duo also co-directed the film.
