Based on Gillian Flynn’s book of the same name, the film centers on a woman whose family was murdered twenty-four years prior to the events of the pic. The woman’s testimony against her brother put him in prison for the crime. In present day, the woman meets a “kill club” obsessed with notorious crimes that believes that the woman’s brother is innocent and the real killer is still on the loose. Theron (also producing) stars as the grown-up Libby Day, the woman at the center of the chaos. If he joins the film, Stoll would play Libby’s brother, accused of killing his family. A lifetime in prison has turned him into a hardened man. Morton would play Patty Day, a divorced mother of three.
Nicholas Hoult, Chloe Moretz and Shannon Kook-Chun also star in the film, which Beth Kono, A.J. Dix, Peter Safran and Stephanie Marsil will produce.
Stoll starred in the hit Netflix series “House of Cards” as well as in the 2013 drama pics “C.O.G.” and “Decoding Annie Parker” (which also starred Morton). He will next be seen in the Liam Neeson-led action pic “Non-Stop” and is repped by UTA.
Last year, Morton starred in the Disney pic “John Carter” and David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis.” She will next appear in the horror-thriller “The Harvest” and is repped by Conway van Gelder Grant.
