Director David Bowers has signed on to take the helm of the upcoming fantasy adaptation 100 CUPBOARDS.
The project, which will be produced by Neal Moritz and Andrew Panay is based on N.D. Wilson’s young adult fantasy trilogy of the same name. The books, which include “100 Cupboards”, “Dandelion Fire” and “The Chestnut King”, are pitched as being in the vein of “Narnia” and center on a 12-year old boy that discovers his old farmhouse harbors mysterious cupboards that lead to worlds and dangers beyond his imagination.
Bowers began his career as an animator, transitioning into directing with the feature animated films “Flushed Away” and “Astro Boy” before trying his hand at live action with the first two installments in the “Wimpy Kid” franchise. With ‘Cupboards’ Bowers looks to add another franchise to his slate.
With Bowers’ attachment, producers are looking for a new writer to come in and do another pass on the script from writer Dan Pyne (The Manchurian Candidate) before bringing it in to a studio or financier.
Bowers is repped by Verve.
