Preproduction has started on the indie dramedy JUNKYARD DOG, a feature film that marks the writing and directing debut for “American Horror Story” star Dylan McDermott. He is enlisting the help of another television star, “Vampire Diaries’” Nina Dobrev will star in the film.
Sneak Preview Entertainment ((500) Days of Summer) will produce the project with plot details mostly under wraps. From what we understand, the script focuses on the chaotic life in a small town as seen through the eyes of one of its residents. We can only assume, at this point, that Dobrev will portray that role.
McDermott, who is perhaps best known for his television roles, has a couple features coming up, including “Dog Fight,” starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. Warner Bros. is expected to roll out the comedy later this summer.
Dobrev will also be seen later this year in the feature adaptation of “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” which is based on the Stephen Chbosky book and marks Emma Watson’s first post “Harry Potter” role.
McDermott is repped by WME and Schiff Company. Dobrev is repped by Innovative Artists.
