Actor Wes Bentley, who portrayed Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane in the smash-hit “The Hunger Games” is sticking to sci-fi and has signed on for a role in RISE, a pitch that Warner Bros. bought late last year.
Produced by Primal Pictures and Underground, the pic is set in the near future where a robot fights for survival as humans begin to eradicate his kind from the city. The script is written by David Karlak, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Karlak, who has a VFX background and recently supervised special effects on the Steve Carell-starrer “Seeking a Friend For the End of the World” will make his feature directorial debut on the project.
Karlak made a name for himself with his short fim “The Candidate”, with Melton and Dunstan putting themselves on the map with the “SAW” franchise, and most recently “Piranha 3D”.
Bentley, who is perhaps best known for playing Ricky Fits in “American Beauty” also appeared in “The Four Feathers” opposite Heath Ledger and Kate Hudson. He recently completed work on “Lovelace” and “Chavez”.
Bentley is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
