Screenwriter Jesse Armstrong has been tapped to do a rewrite on the upcoming Warner Brothers action/comedy EL PRESIDENTE.
Armstrong, who has been the brains behind the brilliant political comedy “In the Loop” and the controversial comedy “Four Lions”, will tackle a new draft of the original Dan Goor draft to fit the planned Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr. starring team. The film, which is in continued talks with Jay roach to direct, centers on a Secret Service agent, who takes his job too seriously, and is demoted to protecting America’s worst former president, a job that becomes exciting when a threat is made on the ex-president’s life. Roach’s involvement is based on his schedule, and most likely dependent on Armstrong’s draft. But, lets be honest, so is everyones. No pressure.
Aside from the above projects, Armstrong currently has a television series on the air, with the BBC series “The Thick of it” and the HBO series “Veep”. He is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, and Linda Seifert Management.
