Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have stepped in to produce the planned Universal fantasy/adventure franchise DRAGONOLOGY.
The project, which Uni picked up back in 2008, is based on the 8-book Dugald A. Steer book series of the same name. The series follows a group of dragonologists who are tasked with the job of keeping a corrupt man from taking control of the world’s dragons and using them to wipe out humanity. With Orci & Kurtzman stepping in there is rumor that they will also adapt, though that was not confirmed. At this time they are expected to come up with a story to jumpstart the franchise for the studio however.
The pair, who have had their hands in several expected or potential franchises have already delivered in the “Transformers” series, “Star Trek”, “Eagle Eye” and “Cowboys & Aliens”. On their upcoming slate the cover everything from the “Ender’s Game” adaptation, “The Mummy” reboot, a new spin on “Van Helsing”, and of course the next installment in “Star Trek”. Their company K/O also has the magician-based heist flick “Now You See Me” set for early 2013 release. To say the team (and their company) are busy is the understatement of the year.
Orci & Kurtzman are repped by CAA.
