In what is our second Todd Field exclusive in under a week, we have now confirmed that Field has signed on to rewrite, with an eye towards directing, the romantic dramedy THE QUIET TYPE.
The project, which was originally acquired by New Line for mid/high-six figured in 2003, was set to be the next Tobey Maguire starring vehicle. Cut to almost a decade later, and four rewrites (original writer Rob Perez, Richard LaGravenese and Martin Hynes) and now Maguire is stepping into the producing role, with plans to seek out a new lead to tackle the role of the young mute man who moves from small town Texas to NYC in pursuit of his dream to become a professional composer.
Field, who just last Thursday confirmed to us that he was onboard to write, direct and produce his own political thriller “As it Happens“, is also still the man planned behind the camera for the upcoming (rumored) Christan Bale / Leonardo DiCaprio starrer “The Creed of Violence”.
From all angles it seems Field, who is repped by CAA, is definitely ramping up his slate.
