There’s no question that one of the most impressive performances of 2017 came from Brooklynn Prince, the precocious young star of Sean Baker’s The Florida Project. She has already been nominated and won a number of “Breakthrough Performance” awards including nominations at the Gotham Awards and upcoming Critics Choice Awards. Although The Florida Project was her first movie, it looks like she will continue to pursue acting as she was just cast in the Amblin Entertainment haunted house thriller, The Turning.
Prince is joining the already-cast Mackenzie Davis and Finn Wolfhard in the film that’s directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways) working from an original script by Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring) with Jade Bartlett.
The film, which is a loose adaptation of Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, is being produced by Scott Bernstein (Straight Outta Compton) and Roy Lee (It, The LEGO Movie).
Prince will play one of the two orphans — Wolfhard plays the other– being looked after by a new young nanny (Davis) at their family’s country mansion, which the kids believe to be haunted.
Prince also recently booked a role opposite Angelina Jolie in Disney’s live-action hybrid The One and Only Ivan, based on Katherine Applegate’s novel, which will be directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) from a script by Mike White.
The story was first reported on by Deadline.
