Just last month, the Tracking Board reported that up-and-comer Brooklynn Prince was circling one of the lead voice roles in Disney’s THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN, and sure enough, the young star of The Florida Project is now in talks to join Angelina Jolie in the live-action hybrid film.
Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) is directing from a script by Mike White, who adapted the acclaimed book written by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by Patricia Castelao.
Published by HarperCollins in 2011, The One and Only Ivan follows a silverback gorilla named Ivan who lives in a cage in a shopping mall along with an elephant named Stella (Jolie) and a stray dog named Bob. Ivan doesn’t remember life outside the mall, but when a baby elephant named Ruby (Prince) enters Ivan’s life and he finds himself taking care of her, he hatches a plan to rescue the baby elephant from its abusive owner.
Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book) is producing the movie with Allison Shearmur (Cinderella) and Jolie.
Prince delivered one of the greatest, most natural child performance of all time in The Florida Project, which boasts a a 94 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. She’s represented by UTA and Thirty Three Management.
