Andrew Garfield Set to Star in and Produce War Correspondent Drama Black Lion

Oscar-nominated Hacksaw Ridge actor Andrew Garfield is ready to get back into the war zone, but in a totally different context. He is set to star and produce the forthcoming drama Black Lion. Written by Alessandro Camon (The Messenger, Bullet to the Head), the story follows the life and the mysterious death of Carlos Mavroleon.

Crazy Rich Asians Taps Newcomer Henry Golding For Male Lead

The cast for the upcoming Warner Bros. adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel Crazy Rich Asians is starting to shape up with newcomer Henry Golding stepping in for the film’s male lead, the Tracking Board has confirmed.

• Foresight Unlimited has set The Flash star Grant Gustin to join The Last Full Measure, the political drama directed and written by Todd Robinson. Gustin will play actual Medal of Honor recipient William Pitsenbarger, a special forces Para-rescue Jumper who is pivotal to the plot. (Deadline)

• AMC and Channel 4 have renewed the sci-fi series Humans for a third season which will bow in 2018. Set in a parallel present, Humans examines what happens when the line between human and machine becomes blurred. (The Hollywood Reporter)

• Fox Searchlight has acquired the rights to The Spy With No Name, a Jeff Maysh eBook published under the Amazon Kindle Single label. The book tells the true story of Erwin van Haarlem, a Cold War secret agent whose stolen identity broke the heart of an innocent woman who thought she’d found her long-lost son. (Deadline)

• Fox 2000 has just made a preemptive acquisition of Children of Blood and Bone, the first installment of a fantasy novel trilogy by 23-year-old author Tomi Adeyemi that will spawn a trilogy. (Deadline)
