Director Colin Trevorrow and his writing partner Derek Connolly penned the most recent draft of the script. which despite rumors, is not believed to have been based on a treatment written by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

  • Newsroom alum Thomas Sadoski has boarded the indie project The Mimic. The film is written and directed by Thomas F. Mazziotti and also stars Jake Robinson, Gina Gershon, and Austin Pendleton. (Variety)

  • Russell Hornsby and Lamar Johnson have joined the YA adaptation The Hate U Give from Fox 2000. The project stars Amandla Stenberg and follows her as a 16-year-old girl who grew up in a poverty-stricken slum, but now attend a suburban prep school. After she witnesses a police officer shoot her unarmed best friend, she’s torn between her two very different worlds as she tries to speak her truth. (Hollywood Reporter)

  • Kelvin Harrison Jr., Courtney Love, and James Jagger have booked roles in Justin Kelly’s biopic JT, about the JT Leroy literary scheme orchestrated by Laura Albert and her sister-in-law Savannah Knoop. The join previously attached Kristen Stewart, Laura Dern, and Diane Kruger. (Deadline)
