The next YA fantasy novel poised to take the Hollywood stage is Marie Lu’s The Young Elites. Its rights were acquired by Fox and Temple Hill Entertainment in 2015, and writer Jessica Sharzer has been tapped to pen the screenplay.
Mel Gibson will star in The Professor and the Madman with Sean Penn in early negotiations to join him. Apocalypto writer Farhad Safinia is set to direct from his own screenplay, which he has adapted from Simon Winchester’s 1998 book.
