Now that the dust from the summer blockbuster season has settled, Hollywood is ready to open the floodgates to a steady stream of films that range from fantastical epics to blatant awards season bait. From now until the end of the year, the titles hitting theaters will prove that contrary to popular belief, 2016 is quite a good year for film.

Denzel Washington & Antoine Fuqua Set to Reunite For The Equalizer 2

There have been talks circulating around a sequel to the 2014 crime thriller The Equalizer, but producer Todd Black has officially confirmed thatThe Equalizer 2 is happening with director Antoine Fuqua directing and Denzel Washington set to reprise his role as Robert McCall.

Eva Longoria & John Rogers Developing Female-Driven Magnum P.I. Sequel at ABC

The popular ’80s action series Magnum P.I. starring Tom Selleck is making a comeback complete with Hawaiian shirts and probably less mustache. ABC has picked up Magnum from Eva Longoria’s UnbeliEVAble Entertainment and John Rogers. The new series will serve as a female-driven sequel to the classic series, following Magnum’s daughter Lily.

• The Matchmaker, starring the late The Voice singer Christina Grimmie is set to debut on October 7.. Directed by Caleb Vetter, the indie romantic comedy follows Ethan (Wesley Elder), whose mom forces him to break up a girl’s relationship.
