{Things We Love} LeVar Burton Swears for Charity
0Many of today’s twentysomethings grew up listening to LeVar Burton talk about books on Reading Rainbow. And now that those kids are grown up and having kids of their own, it turns out Burton’s still got their backs. The Star Trek: The Next Generation Star participated in video game/production company Rooster Teeth’s 24-hour live stream for their Extra Life charity drive, by reading Adam Mansbach’s faux-children’s book Go the Fuck to Sleep out loud to a small group of in-person listeners (and judging by the view count, a much larger online audience). Video of your childhood idol swearing like a sailor can be found below.
Extra Life is an annual charity drive that raises money for children’s hospitals, in partnership with the Children’s Miracle Network. Participants sign up to play in a 24-hour video game marathon, with their play sponsored in the same way that charity runs are. Though the official day of the marathon was October 25, participants can marathon on whatever day is best for them, and direct donations remain open.
