Actor Milo Ventimiglia is taking full advantage of the success of his current NBC show This Is Us to set up a new police drama called GREENLIT at the network, acting as one of the show’s executive producers, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
The procedural is about a task force of five federal agents with different backgrounds who protect members of the law enforcement computer who have been “greenlit” to be murdered by different criminal organizations.”
The show is being produced by 20th Century Fox TV with Kevin O’Hare writing the script for the pilot. O’Hare will also be one of the co-executive producer along with Ventimiglia, his DiVide Pictures partner Russ Cundiff and Andrew Lenchewski. Filmmaker Phillip Noyce is attached to direct the pilot if NBC moves forward with the project.
The same team previously sold the script for another police drama Kin to Fox in October. That one involves a Florida law enforcement family who become the suspects in the disappearance of the leader of a drug cartel after a DEA plane crash.
Ventimiglia’s current show This is Us has already been renewed for a third season by NBC even before the Season 2 premiere on Sept. 26. Ventimiglia also recently appeared in the Adam Sandler movie Sandy Wexler and in the thriller Devil’s Gate, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The actor appeared on NBC’s show Heroes from 2006 to 2010 and has been on a variety of television shows since then.
