〉 Jordan’s new banner will concentrate on film but may include television and animation as well.

Wynn Wygal, the Director of Development for Mad Chance Productions, is exiting the company to run Creed star Michael B. Jordan’s newly formed production shingle, Outlier, sources have confirmed to The Tracking Board. The new company is part of Jordan’s exclusive, multi-year agreement for both television and feature films with David Ellison’s Skydance Media. The first project is an original scripted series Apollo Park.

Wygal, whose title will be Vice President, has been an instrumental executive at the company for several years, involved many of the company’s biggest projects including over a dozen in development properties such as the war photographer biopic It’s What I Do with Jennifer Lawrence and director Steven Spielberg, Lore with Dwayne Johnson, and I.Q. 83 from writer Charlie Kaufman. Mad Chance, which is headed up by producer Andrew Lazar, was behind the Oscar-nominated drama American Sniper, which drew in over $350 million worldwide.

Jordan, whose star has been rising ever since appearing in films like Red Tails and Chronicle, earned wide critical acclaim for his performances in the dramas Fruitvale Station and Creed. He has since joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Killmonger in the upcoming Black Panther stand-alone film and will star in the MGM remake of The Thomas Crown Affair.

In September of 2015, Jordan spoke with GQ Magazine about his production company, which was still in the works. In addition to concentrating on producing films, Jordan told GQ, “I’m heavily into cartoons. Like my geek side, you know,” when detailing his love of manga. He also noted that he’s interested in “smart television—that’s where I come from, obviously… I love telling the experience of a black male in America, but modern, not always having to go back to a period piece to remind people where we come from. It’s more a modern sense of where we are today, and where we want to go in the future. So I try to choose projects somewhere around that space.”

Jordan is repped by WME and MGMT Entertainment.
