Though Inside Out has enjoyed rave reviews so far, there’s really no stopping Jurassic World, and it’s just going to go on destroying records. In one weekend, it made almost half of what Avengers: Age of Ultron has grossed in seven. Jurassic World has claimed the biggest opening weekend, highest non-opening Tuesday box office of all time, and second-highest Wednesday non-opening (losing out only to the first Transformers). Oh, and it has the best 6-day record of all time with $278.4 million, as well as the highest ever global weekend with $524.4 million worldwide.

Inside Out, the third Pixar film from director Peter Doctor (preceded by Up and Monsters, Inc.), is getting rave reviews and has an all-star voice cast. It’s tracking high, but Jurassic World is tracking higher, even with parents. Monsters, Inc. opened with $62 million and Up with $68 million. Inside Out will skew toward the higher side, but probably won’t break the mid-$60 million range.

Spy is still going strong, and being one of only two adult comedies on the market is helping it immensely. Plus, it’s still getting great reviews, as opposed to Entourage, which has dropped off significantly in numbers since its release just three weeks ago.

As San Andreas only has farther to fall, thanks to Jurassic‘s influence in the action sphere, indie fave Dope can secure the 4th place spot. The coming-of-age film is getting a sizable release with 2000+ theaters thanks to Open Road Films’ distribution deal. It’s generated a lot of buzz, and social media activity is strong, so it can expect over $7 million for its opening. San Andreas will be lucky to decline only 50%, landing it 5th place in mid-$5 million range.

OVERNIGHT_web_2

Another R-rated comedy, The Overnight is bowing this week in limited release. About a couple who accidentally finds themselves in the home of possible swingers, The Overnight stars Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman, and Taylor Schilling. Infinitely Polar Bear with Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana drops this weekend, also in limited release. The Tribe, a Ukrainian drama, has seen a lot of word of mouth for its originality. All of its dialogue is in Ukrainian Sign Language with no subtitles, making for a quiet, almost surreal viewing experience. A festival favorite, The Tribe opens in select theaters this weekend.
