Noted Renaissance man Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will step back into the arena of visual entertainment with the recent agreement to co-produce and recur in Fox’s new single-camera sitcom, MY FRIEND 50. The project will see Fiddy team up with veteran producer Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man).
My Friend 50 was written on spec by Ava Tramer (Angie Tribeca) and follows Amanda Kramer, an unstable twentysomething who believes that joining 50 Cent’s entourage is the answer to all her problems. Her unlikely journey with Fiddy’s crew takes the form of a bizarre documentary commissioned by the most unreliable narrator in history: Amanda.
Packer is keeping busy with two TV series – NBC’s Truth Be Told and ABC’s upcoming Uncle Buck, an adaptation of the 1989 John Hughes comedy starring John Candy. His next film, Ride Along 2, opens January 15 with an eye to become Packer’s eighth No. 1 film.
Jackson’s involvement in My Friend 50 falls outside of his recently inked overall deal with Starz, where he executive produces and co-stars in the hit drama Power. He is also an executive producer of SundanceTV’s Dream School. In front of the camera, Fiddy has recently co-starred in Southpaw and Spy.
