We’d like to congratulate screenwriter Erik W. Van Der Wolf, who just one day after receiving a “TB RECOMMENDS” via The Tracking Board’s coverage service has not only signed with manager Kathy Muraviov, but has also seen his spec script MARROW hit the open market with a lot of heat right out of the gate, and an offer in before the end of the first day!
And all of this less than 24 hours after Van Der Wolf signed received the recommend and signed with his new manager. All in all, not a bad day to be him.
The script, which centers on a woman who discovers that she’s received a new personality and memories from a bone marrow transplant- including how her donor was murdered, is a taut thriller that takes something of a familiar idea and gives it an exciting new world to play in!
Here’s the breakdown on what our studio readers had to say:
“Marrow is good. Really good. In a market more or less inundated with formulaic thrillers, it’s interesting that the story manages to be both original and familiar at the same time. It’s incredibly well structured and written, hitting not only all of the required beats but doing them in a way that feels surprising and engaging. The characters themselves all play well off of each other, helping reshape a lot of the more convoluted twists and turns into something that feels fresh and logical. The script honestly is a perfect example that you don’t necessarily need to reinvent a genre to write a great script; you just need to understand it.”
So how did it all begin…
Van Der Wolf sent his script in for the TB Studio Coverage and received a very highly praised “Recommend” from our readers, which led to the announcement in our April newsletter.
