Real life a cappella group The Filharmonic are set to belt it out in Universal’s PITCH PERFECT 2. The group is made up of V.J. Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz, Niko Del Rey, all of Filipino heritage, hence the name of their group. They most recently appeared on NBC’s “The Sing-Off” where they placed fourth. The group is described as hip-hop with a bit of 90’s nostalgia thrown into the mix, a seemingly perfect fit for the film. Presumably, they’ll be a competing group but they’ll certainly give the Bellas a run for their money.
The group joins Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp, who are all reprising their roles, in Elizabeth Banks’ directorial debut.
