Aaron Eckhart has signed on to star in LIVE!, an action pic that touts a story shot in real time. Sold on spec in 2013, the Jeremy Drysdale-scripted project follows disgraced cop Kyle Penny on a mission with only eighty minutes to rescue the police commissioner’s kidnapped daughter. With a deranged killer on his trail, Penny’s left to team with a young web reporter who shoots the event live. Eckhart has been tapped to star as Penny.
Darrin Prescott and Wade Allen, known for their work as second unit action directors and stunt coordinators, will make their directorial debut. Principal photography is expected to begin this October.
Eckhart most recently appeared in Lionsgate’s monster/action picture I, Frankenstein. He’s next set to reprise his role as President Benjamin Asher from the Gerard Butler actioner Olympus Has Fallen for the sequel, London Has Fallen, which bows next year.
Eckhart will also star alongside Miles Teller in Open Roads’ sports drama Bleed For This, based on the true story of world champion boxer Vinny Pazienza.
