Former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul is developing an hourlong drama series at NBC, reports say. Paul will executive produce through his production banner Lucid Road, with brothers John Sonntag and Thomas Sonntag writing the script and serving as additional executive producers. It is being set up through Universal Television as the studio.
The series, titled BLACKMAIL, will follow a married couple who suffer a life-altering accident and vow to get back at the man who caused it by revealing his infidelity to his wife. However, things take a dark turn and what was once a straightforward blackmail scheme because a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
Paul has developed a solid television career, from his five season starring role in Breaking Bad to Hulu’s current original series, The Path, where he co-stars with Hugh Dancy and Michelle Monaghan. He is also a regular voice actor on the Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman.
Lucid Road is currently developing The Street at AMC.
This will be the first television venture for the Sonntag brothers. Currently, they have two film specs in development: Warden, at New Line Cinema, and Ctrl, in production with Gidden Media.
