Aaron Sorkin-Directed “Molly’s Game” Eyes Michael Cera

Aaron Sorkin’s directorial debut MOLLY’S GAME continues to fill out its cast as is in talks for a role. He would join previously cast Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba.

The film stars Chastain as a skier who, after her Olympic dreams are dashed, heads to Los Angeles and becomes a cocktail waitress. But she rises through the social circuit to become an organizer of underground poker games for the Hollywood elite. Her life came crashing down when 17 FBI agents armed with automatic weapons rang her doorbell. Cera will play Player X, an elite celebrity player who develops an interesting relationship with Chastain’s character.

The film is based on the real-life skier Molly Bloom and is adapted from her book Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boys Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker. It is produced by The Mark Gordon Co. and Amy Pascal’s Pascal Pictures.

Cera, who first burst on the scene as George Michael in Arrested Development, can currently be heard in theaters as one of the character voices in Sausage Party. He is set to star in Captain Dad with Will Ferrell and Catherine Keener, and has also lent his voice to the role of Robin in the Lego Batman Movie.
