Martin McDonagh’s THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is quickly revving up as it adds Abbie Cornish and Caleb Landry Jones to the cast. They join previously cast Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, and Sam Rockwell.
The film follows Mildred Hayes (McDormand), who is furious that the local police have not caught her daughter’s killer so she buys three billboards which she uses to goad the cops into action. Mildred reserves her greatest scorn for Sheriff Bill Willoughby (Harrelson). Willoughby’s hot-headed protege, Officer Jason Dixon (Rockwell), identifies who he thinks is the killer and teams up with Mildred to wreak vigilante justice since he is certain that the guy killed someone.
Cornish is set as Willoughby’s wife Anne, while Landry Jones will play Red, a low-rent advertising salesman who allows Mildred to rent the three controversial billboards.
Film4 developed the project and will co-finance the equally with Fox Searchlight with the latter taking worldwide distribution rights. Film4 will retain UK TV rights. Blueprint Pictures’ Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin will produce with McDonagh. Film is set to beginin April in North Carolina.
Cornish previously worked with McDonagh on Seven Psychopaths and will next be seen in 6 Days and Geostorm. Landry Jones is currently working on David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and will appear opposite Tom Cruise in Mena.
