ABC, CBS, TNT, and MTV All Developing New Drama Series



Over the past several days, two networks, ABC and CBS, as well as the cable channels TNT and MTV, have picked up four brand-new drama series, continuing the Peak trend that’s gotten bigger and bigger in the last couple of years.

At ABC, there is a Cagney & Lacey type procedural in the works from British writer and actor, . The untitled series follows a team of female detectives, Billie Law and Martha Lee, as they fight for law and justice, although not always hand-in-hand. Mickery will executive produce with Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner and their Bad Wolf banner.

Over at CBS, they’ve landed S.W.A.T., a new procedural about an African-American SWAT lieutenant torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers. It is loosely based on the 2003 movie of the same name, which in turn was based on a 1975 television series.

of Sleepy Hollow wrote the and Justin Lin will possibly direct. They are both producing alongside Shawn Ryan and Neal H. Mortiz. It comes from Sony Pictures , with a commitment from CBS.

Next, has been given a order from TNT. The series comes from  (Criminal Minds) and her short story The Boom. It focuses on two middle-class suburban families of different races, a concept that seems ripe for television right now. The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’s Anthony Hemingway is set to direct. It’s reported the series will focus on a different set of families each season.

Finally, MTV is developing , a new drama from  and Fabrik Entertainment. In the series, a young woman’s social media accounts start posting her updates a day in advance, allowing her to see into the future. This winds her up embroiled in a deep conspiracy
