ABC Developing Reincarnation Cop Drama “Then Again” (Exclusive)

ABC is developing supernatural cop drama from Flightplan writer Peter Dowling, has learned exclusively.

Th story is set in a world where reincarnation is prominent and follows LAPD officer Steven “Coop” Cooper, who has been taking medication to suppress memories of his past lives for as long as he can remember. Everything changes when he must relive his past life in order to hunt down a mass murderer.

Dowling will write and executive produce the ABC Studios project.

ACB’s comedy development slate includes Black Don’t Crack, from Viola Davis and Larry Wilmore; Valley Girls, a Silicon Valley comedy from Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos; an illegal immigration comedy from David Feeney; Fertile, a workplace comedy from The Goldbergs EP Doug Robinson, as well as untitled sitcom from The Goldbergs trio of Dan Levy, Robinson and Marc Firek, based on Levy’s own life and standup routine.

On the drama side, ABC is also developing The Heiresses, from Pretty Little Liars showrunner I. Marlene King and starring Shay Mitchell; musical drama Broken Record, with Meghan Trainor set to executive produce and contribute new music; Glass Houses, based on the life of Real Housewives star Kyle Richards; Spirited, a psychic drama starring Laverne Cox; Eligible, a modern-day retelling of Pride and Prejudice, also from King.

  1. Sorry, not interested. It sounds too much like Forever. If ABC wanted it, they should have renewed it instead of cancelling it because it’s not a in-house production.
