Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish managed something special this year. She managed to steal awards season despite not being nominated for an Oscar, or even a Golden Globe. That said, she did win herself several notable movie roles, the latest of which is a lead role in Tyler Perry’s next movie THE LIST, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick are set to star in the film, which is set up at Paramount Players. Perry is producing and directing from his own screenplay. Production will have to start soon, as The List is slated for release on Nov. 2, 2018.
Haddish will play a woman who gets released from prison and re-enters her sister’s life, helping her realize that she may be getting ‘catfished’ by an online boyfriend whom she’s never actually met.
Since her breakout turn in Girls Trip at age 37, Haddish has booked a lead role in the Kevin Hart comedy Night School and the Melissa McCarthy crime drama The Kitchen, in addition to setting up several other projects.
Haddish recently became the first black female comic to host Saturday Night Live, and she’s also set to host the MTV Movie & TV Awards this summer. She’s represented by APA and Principato-Young Entertainment, and her casting was first reported by Deadline.
