Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander is in talks to star in Ben Wheatley’s next project, FREAKSHIFT. The film is looking to start production this August and Vikander will wrap Tomb Raider earlier in the summer.
The film is described as an all-guns-blazing action thriller about a band of misfits who hunt down a kill nocturnal underground monsters.
Wheatley wrote the script with writing partner Amy Jump. The pair previously penned Free Fire, due out next month, High-Rise, and Kill List, all of which Wheatley directed. Rook Films’ Andrew Starke will produce. MadRiver is handling international rights, and Riverstone Pictures is financing.
Since her win at the Academy Awards for her performance in The Danish Girl, Vikander has become one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. She was last seen in The Light Between Oceans and next stars in the period drama Tulip Fever.
Vikander is represented by UTA and Tavistockwood in the UK.
Wheatley is repped by WME and Independent Talent Group in the UK.
