Alicia Vikander and Justin Chadwick have signed onto the film, TULIP FEVER. The project is set against the backdrop of the 17th Century Tulip Wars, where a married noblewoman has an affair with an artist and has to switch identities with her maid in order to escape the wealthy merchant she married. She and her lover try to raise money by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market. Vikander will star as the female lead while Matthias Schoenaerts is being eyed to co-star as the male lead.
Peter Chelsom is the most recent writer attached, working from the novel “Tulip Fever” written by Deborah Moggach. Chadwick will now be directing the project with Alison Owen, Neris Thomas, and Paul Trijbits in the producing chairs.
Vikander previously starred in “Anna Karenina” and “A Royal Affair” and can be seen in the upcoming “Seventh Son” and “The Fifth Estate”. Schoenaerts is best known for “Rust and Bone” and will soon be appearing in “Animal Rescue”. Chadwick’s past work includes “The Other Boleyn Girl”.
