Allison Burnett Inks With Paradigm

has signed with . The writer/director/producer penned 2012’s Underworld: Awakening for Screen Gems, which starred Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, and Michael Ealy. He also wrote the 2007 sports drama Resurrecting the Champ, about an up-and-coming sports reporter who rescues a homeless man (“Champ”) only to discover that he is actually a boxing legend believed to have passed away. Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Hartnett starred in the Rod Lurie-directed picture.

Burnett is currently in on Oxford, a spec he sold to Screen Gems that has Temple Hill producing.

Outside of film, Burnett is the author of five novels. His most recent work, The Escape of Malcolm Poe, centers on a man, Malcolm Poe, who is turning 50 and is completely unhappy with his life, his wife, and his family. Now that their four children are grown and out of the house, and Poe has stopped taking his anti-depressants, he can finally plan his “escape.”
