Amazon Adapting “White Fur” with Drake Doremus to Direct

Romantic drama novel is getting the television treatment from Amazon. The streaming giant bought the project from FilmNation and has attached to direct. Author Jardine Libaire will adapt her novel for the series and is also a co-executive producer.

The story tells an epic love story that follows a young couple who battle the class divide and social conformity in 1980s New York.

Jardine’s fresh voice coupled with Drake’s distinct style are the makings of a sexy, smart, and compelling show. Brenda’s experience and taste is key to us achieving in television our perpetual goal of broadening FilmNation’s relationships with the most original and bold storytellers,” said FilmNation’s Ben Browning.

Browning will executive produce alongside Brenda Vogel, Glen Basner, and Doremus.

Doremus helmed the upcoming feature Newness starring Nicholas Hoult and Laia Costa which sold to Netflix after premiering at Sundance.
