Harbour will be portraying the red anti-hero, while McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Broom. The film will find Hellboy facing off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy mankind.
Neil Marshall will direct the adaptation of Mike Mignola’s comic book Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. Marshall also directed the horror movie The Descent and worked on Game of Thrones, so given his history of creating hauntingly beautiful imagery, I think he’s a great choice to update Hellboy.
McShane’s recent credits include Deadwood, American Gods and John Wick, the latter two of which are Lionsgate properties. He’s represented by ICM Partners, Independent Talent Group, Gallant Management and Sloane Offer. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of his casting.
