Amy Poehler is set to co-star opposite Will Ferrell in New Line’s upcoming comedy, THE HOUSE. Scripted by Neighbors duo Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, the pic centers on a married couple who, after blowing their daughter’s college fund and desperate for cash, team with their neighbors to open an illegal casino in the suburbs in an attempt to raise the money back.
Poehler plays Ferrell’s wife, who’s anxious about losing her relationship with her daughter when she leaves for college. Cohen will also direct, with Ferrell producing with Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez shingle. Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe are also producing, along with O’Brien. Production is intended to begin this August.
Poehler recently finished up her run on NBC’s cult-favorite comedy Parks and Recreation, which concluded just this past February. She’ll next lend her voice to Pixar’s June 19th animated comedy Inside Out, which has been hailed as a return to form for the studio. Poehler also just wrapped on Universal’s comedy Sisters, which co-stars frequent collaborator Tina Fey.
