Continuing ABC’s current trend of inclusive comedies (Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat, Speechless, and The Real O’Neals), the network has given a script commitment with penalty to FAMILY STYLE from Amy Poehler and Claudia Lonow. This will be Poehler’s third comedy sale this season with her Paper Kite production company.
The series is set to be a single-camera, multi-generational comedy which follows two mismatched men who find love at a family-run restaurant in Miami.
Lonow will write the script and executive produce alongside Poehler, Brooke Posch of Paper Kite, and Dave Becky and Scott King of 3 Arts.
Previously, Poehler has secured a comedy with Carol Burnett at ABC, in which she will also star. Paper Kite also has a pilot production commitment from NBC for the comedy The Baby starring Seann William Scott. Paper Kite also produces the comedies Broad City and Difficult People. It’s repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Previously, Lonow has created Showtime series Rude Awakening. She has also produced and written for The War at Home on Fox, Friends with Benefits on NBC, and Crowded on NBC. She’s repped by WME.
