Amy Poehler is stepping behind the camera to direct the pilot for Charlie Grandy’s NBC comedy pilot. The untitled single-cam comedy, also known as “Dumb Prince,” centers on Crown Prince Karl, who after years of partying that earned him the black sheep label returns home to compete with his brother for the family throne.
Paper Kite is the company behind Comedy Central’s Broad City, which will begin its third season this month, and Hulu’s Difficult People, which was recently renewed for a second season. Poehler has previously directed episodes of Broad City and her NBC series Parks and Recreation, but this will mark her pilot directing debut.
Scribe Grandy has written for The Mindy Project, The Office, and The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. He also wrote for SNL from 2001-2008 while Poehler was on the NBC sketch comedy show.
