Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Acquires Film Rights to YA Novel “Moxie”

The rights to the upcoming YA novel MOXIE by Jennifer Mathieu have landed at and Brooke Posch‘s company Paper Kite. The book is slated to be released later this year on September 19 by Roaring Book Press.

The story follows a 16-year-old girl from a small Texas town who is inspired by her mother’s Riot Grrrl past and starts a feminist revolution at her high school. Mathieu is known for many other YA novels including Afterword and The Truth About Alice which earned her a Teen Choice Debut Author Award.

Paper Kite also produces the hit Comedy Central series Broad City as well as Hulu’s Difficult People. The company has a full slate of projects ahead including the ABC pilot Family Style, an untitled basketball comedy starring Poehler, as well as a pilot starring the legendary Carol Burnett.
