Amy Schumer To Star In Universal Comedy “Who Invited Her?” From Producer Reese Witherspoon (Exclusive)

〉 The Trainwreck star is set to add another comedy feature to her resume.

Amy Schumer is getting ready to crash a party — a bachelor party that is.

The Golden Globe-nominated actress will star in the Universal comedy WHO INVITED HER?. The story is centered around a woman who insists on tagging along on her best guy friend’s bachelor party weekend. Don’t Think Twice star and Inside Amy Schumer scribe Tami Sagher will rewrite the script, taking over for John Phillips. Sascha Rothchild first sold the pitch to Dreamworks back in 2011.

Schumer will produce with her sister Kim Caramele. Reese Witherspoon, who originally boarded the project as a under her Type A , will now produce through her Pacific Standard. Russ Rasnoff and Gary Foster at Krasnoff Foster Productions will also produce alongside Type A . Bruna Papandrea will oversee for Pacific Standard and Erik Baiers will oversee for Universal.

There’s no doubt that Schumer is having a huge moment. Her career has been on a steady rise since she made a name for herself as a stand-up comedian, work that eventually led to her Central show, Inside Amy Schumer. After writing, co-producing and starring in the Judd Apatow-directed Trainwreck, her career skyrocketed and she soon became the female comedic actress. Who Invited Her? seems to be right in Schumer’s wheelhouse considering her subversive take on relationships and societal standards between males and females – a subject often skewered on her hit show.

Witherspoon and Papandrea, meanwhile, add some hard-hitting industry wattage. Through their Pacific Standard, the pair have built up a solid reputation over the past few years, producing films like Gone Girl and Wild – which earned Witherspoon an Oscar nomination. They are currently working on an HBO adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s novel Big Little Lies starring Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgard, and Laura Dern, and the Barbie origin story Barbie and Ruth.

Schumer is currently in her fourth season of Inside Amy Schumer. She will take a dramatic turn in the PTSD drama, Thank You For Your Service, starring Miles Teller, which is expected to be released later this year. She is also developing the action comedy Mother/Daughter in which she will star opposite Goldie Hawn, and is co-writing a comedy feature with Jennifer Lawrence.

Schumer is repped by and Maverick Management.
