The nominees for the 39th Annual Lawrence were announced this afternoon in London.

Musicals made a strong showing this year, with the West End of Tony-winner Memphis The Musical grabbing nine nominations and Beautiful – The Carole King Musical picking up eight.

Gillian Anderson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Imelda Staunton, and Penelope Wilton were nominated for Best Actress while James McAvoy, Mark Strong, Richard Armitage, and Tim Pigott-Smith picked up nominations for Best Actor.
