And the Winners Are…the 13th Annual VES Awards!

The 2015 Visual Effects Society Awards were handed out last night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.  The recognize outstanding achievements in visual effects work and honors the artists who create them.

Big Hero 6 was the “big” winner of the evening, taking home five awards, including Outstanding Animation in an Animated Feature Motion Picture, while Dawn of the Plant of the Apes landed the top live action motion picture award. Game of Thrones also came away with accolades on the television side, as did American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Additionally, J.J. Abrams (Star Trek) was presented the Visionary Award, which recognizes an individual who employs visual effects to “foster imagination and ignite future discoveries by way of artistry, invention and groundbreaking work.”  He was introduced by Star Trek: Into Darkness star Zoe Saldana.
