And the Winners Are…the 68th Annual BAFTA Awards!

The 68th Annual BAFTA Awards were handed out tonight at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in London.

The usual suspects in this year’s awards race were lauded during the evening.  Richard Linklater’s Boyhood was awarded Best , Best , and Best Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette.

As for what the BAFTA’s mean for the Academy Awards, it seems that if anything, the winners for the acting awards are just about locked up. Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) and Julianne Moore (Still Alice) won Leading Actor and Actress, respectively, while J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) and Arquette were awarded Best Supporting Actor and Actress.

But the race for Best Picture Oscar is still up in the air, coming down to a two-horse race between Boyhood and Birdman, as each film picks up laurels across the awards season.  While Boyhood took home the top prize at the BAFTAs, Birdman was the big winner at the Director Guild Awards.  Who the Academy is leaning towards will be discovered Sunday, February 22, the Oscars are presented in .
