Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping star Andy Samberg is reuniting with Murray Miller and HBO for the sports mockumentary TOUR DE PHARMACY. Miller penned the script, and Jake Szymanski will direct and co-produce.
The mockumentary tackles rampant drug use in the world of professional cycling. Samberg will star as one of the competing cyclists and will be joined by Daveed Diggs, Julia Ormand, Phylicia Rashad, Will Forte, Dolph Lundgren, John Cena, Mike Tyson, Nathan Fielder.
Miller and Samberg will produce through their Legends Of Sport with David Bernad and M Elizabeth Hughes.
Miller and Samberg previously created the mockumentary 7 Days In Hell, which co-starred Game Of Thrones‘ Kit Harrington as longtime rival tennis players. The movie featured appearances from some of professional tennis’s best including John McEnroe and Serena Williams.
Samberg burst to national attention after joining Saturday Night Live as a castmember in 2005, where he and his Lonely Island cohorts, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, created SNL Digital Shorts. They recently made this summer’s comedy feature Popstar and are producing TV series Party Over Here. Samberg currently stars on the Fox sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine and will next appear as a voice in the animated movie Storks.
