Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie is in talks to star in SHOOT LIKE A GIRL, TriStar’s adaptation of Mary Jennings Hegar’s upcoming memoir “Shoot Like a Girl: How One Woman’s War Against the Taliban Led to Her Victory Over the Department of Defense.”
The book centers on Air National Guard major “MJ” Hegar who was shot down while on a Medevac mission on her third tour in Afghanistan. Despite being wounded, she fought the enemy and saved the lives of her crew and their patients. She received a Purple Heart but soon she would face a new battle: to give women who serve on the front lines the credit they deserve.
Frank Baldwin adapted the script based on the book which will be published on March 7, 2017. The Gotham Group is set to produce with Nicole Brown overseeing alongside TriStar president Hannah Minghella. A director has yet to be set.
Jolie reprised her role as the voice of Tigress in the animated sequel Kung Fu Panda 3. She also directed and starred in By the Sea opposite Brad Pitt. She is set to produce the upcoming Afghanistan-set animated feature The Breadwinner.
