Academy Award-winning actor Anna Paquin has been tapped to star opposite Sarah Gadon and Zachary Levi in ALIAS GRACE, a Netflix and CBC miniseries inspired by the true story of murderer Grace Marks based on the novel by Margaret Atwood.
The miniseries, which will be produced by Sarah Polley and directed by Mary Harron, follows Grace (Gadon), a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Canada. She and James McDermott were convicted of the murders of their employer Thomas Kinnear and his housekeeper and lover, Nancy Montgomery. Paquin is set to play Nancy, who initially befriends Grace, but when Nancy develops a relationship with Thomas, Grace becomes extremely jealous.
Polley and Harron will executive produce alongside Noreen Halpern of Halfire Entertainment. D.J. Carson will serve as a producer.
In addition to winning an Oscar for her role in The Piano, Paquin is known for her role as Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO vampire series True Blood. She recently lent her voice to Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur and appeared in the Roots TV mini-series.
