Anna Torv and Shree Crooks have been cast in Blumhouse Production and Chapter One’s STEPHANIE. The horror flick, directed by Akiva Goldsman, centers on an abandoned little girl with otherworldly abilities who gets thrown into turmoil when two strangers show up claiming to be her parents. Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski wrote the screenplay, which Jason Blum is producing with Adrienne Biddle, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, and Matt Kaplan. The script previously made the 2012 Blood List before getting set up.
Shree will play the titular Stephanie while Torv has been cast as her mother. Frank Grillo was previously brought on as Stephanie’s father.
Torv starred on Fox’s underserved sci-fi series Fringe with Joshua Jackson and John Noble. She recently completed writer/director Simon Stone’s drama “The Daughter,” which follows a man who returns home to discover a long-buried family secret, and whose attempts to put things right threaten the lives of those he left home years before. She stars with Geoffrey Rush and Sam Neill.
Crooks plays the young Katie Sparks on CBS’s sci-fi thriller Extant. Starring Halle Berry, the series centers on an astronaut struggling to learn how she became pregnant while on a 13-month-long solo space mission. Crooks will next be seen in the drama Captain Fantastic, about a father living in the forests of the Pacific Northwest with his six young kids as they try to assimilate back into society.
Torv is repped by WME, Conway van Gelder Grant in the UK, and United Management. Crooks is repped by Coast to Coast and Anonymous Content.
