Annabelle Wallis is in talks to join Tom Cruise in the Universal’s untitled reboot of THE MUMMY which has been dubbed as an “epic action-adventure.”
Alex Kurtzman is set to direct the feature penned by Jon Spaihts, who also co-wrote Prometheus. Kurtzman will also produce alongside Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel. Jon Mone and Jay Polidoro at Universal are set to oversee the project.
Reports say that the modern-day story will follow a special forces soldier played by Cruise. Sofia Boutella, who starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service is confirmed to play the title creature. The Mummy is posed to be the first that will be part of Universal’s plan to build a interconnected franchise of classic monster movies.
Wallis starred in BBC’s Peaky Blinders opposite Cillian Murphy. Her film credits include W.E. and the horror pic Annabelle. She can be seen next in the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy The Brothers Grimbsy. She will also star in Guy Ritchie’s Kings of the Roundtable: King Arthur which is slated for a 2017 release date.
