Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures is in negotiations to finance THE REVENANT. Written and directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, the updated western centers on a fur trapper who joins the Rocky Mountain Fur Company on a dangerous expedition, but while hunting for food for his group, he is mauled by a grizzly bear and left for dead in the wilderness. Fueled by anger, Glass vows to survive — and miraculously does, making his way through 350 miles of uncharted wilderness to exact revenge.
Production company New Regency has been searching for more financial backing after Worldview Entertainment had to pull back on its financial commitment.
