Colossal star Anne Hathaway is sticking with sci-fi for now and has been tapped to star in O2, the Tracking Board has confirmed. The film comes from a script by Christie LeBlanc, with IM Global financing. The project is still on the hunt for a director.
In the film, Hathaway will play a woman who wakes up in a cryogenic chamber, but having no memory of how she wound up there. Suddenly, she must escape the chamber before her air run out, making it akin to films like Buried and Gravity (with the similar sci-fi elements and female protagonist).
Hathaway is also set to produce the film alongside Suzan Bymel, Echo Lake’s Adam Riback and James Engle, and IM’s Stuart Ford and Greg Shapiro. The casting was first reported by Deadline.
Currently, Hathaway is in production on Serenity with Matthew McConaughey and Jason Clarke, which IM Global is also producing and financing. She most recently starred in Colossal and wrapped on the highly anticipated Ocean’s Eight. She’s repped by CAA and Management 360.
