After acquiring his new film Sorry to Bother You at Sundance, Annapurna Pictures is getting back in business with Armie Hammer, who is set to star in an untitled thriller from writer-director Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow), the Tracking Board has confirmed.
Hammer will play a New Orleans bartender whose life begins to unravel after he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.
Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures and Christopher Kopp of AZA Films are producing alongside Annapurna, which has fast-tracked the film for a March 29, 2019 release.
Hammer is coming off the acclaimed films Call Me by Your Name (which earned him a Golden Globe nomination) and Nocturnal Animals. He next stars alongside Dev Patel in Hotel Mumbai and opposite Felicity Jones in the Ruth Bader Ginsburg drama On the Basis of Sex. He’s represented by WME, which also reps Anvari along with Grandview and Independent Talent.
In other news, Anvari is teaming with screenwriter Mary Laws (The Neon Demon, Preacher) on an elevated horror anthology for Annapurna Television and Two & Two, and that project has multiple bidders, so stay tuned for news regarding a sale.
Variety broke the news.
